Question:
I have some confusions regarding clients of R3 and their connections with BW:
a) What client do we use to change the comm. structure (LO)/ create datasource , write function module etc in R3?
b) Which client do we use to schedule jobs, fill initialize (LO) tables in R3 etc?
Is there a simple rule by which we can remember what tasks should be done in which client?
I believe, this confusion is only for Development environment as we cannot change structures etc in Quality and Production.
Answer:
In dev there could be many different R/3 clients for different aspects of the business. But only one client is defined in the transport path. Also One client (final repository of all completed developments, and is therefore locked against changes) is defined as the source for other systems like BW, apo etc. Find out from your tech team which on this is.
