Answer:
Try and check or capture the status of the job first. (from the Job menu in SM37, highlight the job and select the option from the Job menu.)

Sometimes the job fails but the job monitor is not updated and performing the check and/or capture corrects the situation and properly cancels the job.

Answer:
Hi Bob,
I tried it and it didn't help. any other suggestions. Can't I make a hard kill? Thanks

Answer:
I would check the job log (if you can) for the job. If it is still legitamately running, then I would let it run, but if it has been running for a really long time (like days) then go ahead and kill it. If the first two suggestions don't work, I don't know of another way. (Anyone else have suggestions???)

Answer:
Use transaction code sm50 and Cancel the process without core. You'll probably find its a background job with ALEREMOTE as the user.

Answer:
Hi El,
Thanks. It really helped. Will this way of killing a job won' t harm the PRODUCTION system right? Can you explain what happened at your convenience. What we did wrong? Why is this job running for days to activate an ODs with 200,00 records without any transfer of data, not even a single record. Gosh! who would be monitoring? This happend on a Production system, what are we supposed to do?
Thanks

Answer:
It shouldn't affect your system, but unless you don't restart your system you will get a little red square in your SM50 overview (in the Err column). Just ignore it... once you restart your system it will disappear.
What you did wrong? Can't tell unless I saw your actions... you're not always to blame, sometimes shit happens and the system acts a bit strange. I guess in your case the system just "hanged" (not sure how to say it in English).

cheers,

Answer:
El,

I think you said it just right in English. Sometimes stuff just happens
