Logistics setup run without any R/3 downtime

Question: Hello all

I am sure some of you must have gone thru this question that I have now. Is there any way to do the setup run without any downtime at all. SAP clearly recommends that the setup run be done when no transactions are being posted in that area, but sometimes that is not possible to do. If a cube needs to be reloaded and there are millions of records to load then setup run can take a long time.

Is there any workaround that anybody has come across ? Can we do one setup run first and do the init and then do a second init for the records that were posted in the time that the first setup run took ? Hopefully the second setup will take much lesser time than the first and a downtime can be arranged for that ?

Any ideas anybody ?

Answer:
run the setup for the docs you are sure will not be touched ('closed' periods),
load them via a full load,
delete the content of the setup table,
start the downtime,
run the setup for the 'active' period,
initialize the delta queue,
stop the downtime
