Answer:
There is no 2.1B only 2.0B and 2.1C.
Advantages can be seen in the 3.0B features' document and also on the delta course.
Too many to talk about here.

Answer:
a MAJOR one might be that you can use characteristics with hierarchies together with other characteristics...
but as the one before me replied: there are way too many to discuss here.

Answer:
Hi!

You gain a lot of features with the new BW. If you have to cope with mass data it will be easier to administer than in BW 2.0B but my 2 predecessors were right. To many features to discuss.

Answer:
It is the Business driver that really dictates whether you upgrade or not. If there is a genuine business need to upgrade to 3.0B, then usually it overrides the (IT) budget limitations, you can probably share the cost between some business related budget heads to reduce the burden on your IT budget. 3.0B is mostly a technical upgrade where you have to add a Web Application Server.

There are many features which make reporting a lot less painful for end-users. If the end users are clamouring for web based reports and management is after you for a better EIS tool, then put up a prelim budget and see where it goes. With IT budget cuts in most companies (including the one I work for), it will be a no go if it has only a technical driver. We spent about $4M on 2.0B, now it looks like the upgrade is gonna cost us upwards of $250,000!
