SAP, Outlook, and Citrix

Question: Hello everyone,

Presently, we are using Groupwise as our email client. When a workflow item is sent to an agent, we also send a smtp email to the agent's groupwise inbox informing them that they have a work item in their SAP Inbox.

Now, we have just begun our implemention of Outlook and Exchange as our new Email client. The Execs would like for the agents to be able to execute their work items from Outlook (which we all know is possible) except we are using Citrix to access SAP. None of the agents will have SAPGui installed on the desktop.

Is there a way to still execute the work items from the Outlook inbox? Is so, would it require installing any files on the desktop?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Hi

Quick question, when sending to the smtp mail client, does the SM59 rfc connection call the program SENDMAIL on the smtp server, in order for sapCONNECT to work?

Answer:
As long as Outlook is installed on your Citrix Server along with SAP GUI you should be able to use Desktop Workplace(http://www.desktopworkplace.com) in order to execute items directly from your Outlook E-mail.

Answer:
Hi,
If you want to use Outlook to execute a work item, you need to install "SAP MAPI Sevice Provider". To install it you need to select this option during SAP GUI installation. Then you need to add it in your Outool serivces, you can check for some help document on hwo to do that.
If you are using citrix this has to be done manually to all the users or you need to write a script to run it in all users desktop.
The problem with this serivces it requires high memory per users. If there is no enough memory it may casue lots of problems.
