Star Schema only has Characteristics and Facts, An extended star schema contains Characteristics, Attributes and Key Figures. It uses the SID technology which creates its own text, attributes and hierarchy tables.

A fact table at the center and surrounded(linked) by Dimension tables is called Star Schema. If the Dimension tables inturn are connected to Master data tables, That is Extended Star Schema.

That is a Big difference Sravan. And all differences are because of that.
