What's wrong with that?

Well, if there's data in the cube, the solution is most probably NOT to delete the data and re-upload.
I rather think you should check your query and make sure that the key figure you have selected to show in the query with combination to the characteristic you have selected actually exist in the cube.
Check with LISTCUBE and make a query that contains the characteristic and key figure you can see there, and you should not have any problems.
