Question:
Hi, I need to create a custom a cube and have a couple of basic questions:
1 Why do some Master datasources have an _Attr and _txt and others only _txt. When would you use a only a _txt datasource? what's the advantage?
2 I'm creating a zmat infoobject to use but can't use the 0material datasource as it already been used and populated in a bi content cube. Can I use the 0material datasource to update both infoobjects? or do I have to create another datasource in R/3 to update my zmat infobject?

Answer:
Hi,
1. The _attr is when the master data object has attributes that are loaded from the master data data source. The _text is when you have descriptions on the master data objects. Some times you have both attributes and descriptions of an info object (eg 0MATERIAL) some times you have only descriptions if the master data has no attributes.
2. If you want to use the same data source for both 0MATERIAL and the z-object (which you can't) why would you not instead use 0MATERIAL also in your custom cube?
3. Read documentation on SAPNET, help.sap.com, sapfans.com and apply for a couple of BW-training courses.
Kind regards

Answer:
Hi,
When We activate the data target you get an _Attr & and _txt for master data (characterstis) & text ( description like languages ) If you have hierachy & you can see a table like this /BIC/IO_SRIP for this an_SREP_HIER DataSources .
How can you use a datasource at 2 places ,
Take few lessons from Step by Step by Fu,Fu ( specially 3rd chaptar ) or go through TBW10 & TBW20 for these basic things .
