i am completing an ods exercise in the bw step by step guide by henry fu page 234 in which it should add a new infoobject '0recordmode' to the
datafields once I check the definition of the ods.
However it doesnt appear?
Any ideas?

Hii ,
As you know system looks for 0RECORDMODE while creation of the update rules from your ODS to another data target. so if you are not finding the recordmode after actviting ODS .
You can add 0recordmode explicitly in the transfer structure & then it should work .

Maybe the following will help.
The scenario is to load the ods from a flat file then to update an infocube from the ods.
I have done the following.
Created the infosourse which includes the 0recordmode in the transfer structure and created the transfer rules.
I have created an ODS but it will not allow the infoobject 0recordmode to be added to the datafields. If i right click on the heading 'Data Fields' in the ODS definition right hand screen it finfds the 0recordmode but when i click tick to enter it it does not add it to the definition?
I then went back into the Infosource and added the field 0recordmode to the transfer structure transfer rules etc comm structure and reactivated the transfer structure.
still no joy in the ODS it does not allow me to enter 0recordmode.
Is there any other setting i am missing?

Hi,
Why dont u do in this manner . Reconstruct all process like this :-
First Create a ODS with 0recordmode by adding explicitly in transfer structure > Create a Infosource & schdule the Flat file by a infopackage >
Update your target data target .
As you told me when You clicked on data target it does not give u it's defination , It means Either it has been changed frm your infosource or its data type has been changed So reconstruct this as I suggested you .See the 0recordmode entry in transfer rules also . Also make sure that "Update data target frm ODS object automatically " is checked on or not . if its on then off it .
Try it out , You should get success now.

how did you get on with this? I have a user with the same problem...
he has added it to the comm structure (its in the transfer but not mapped as it is not being populated from the flatfile)
but still he is not able to see the object in the ods definition.
can select it to be added, says ok, the screen refreshes but nothing shows... no error but no 0recordmode in the datafield.
I have told him to continue as if it is there and see if he gets error when he tries deltas from ODS --> cube. maybe this error might explain the requirments a little more.
i have read every post on this forum releated to this but still not clear why its misbehaving.
we are doing
flatfile --> infosource --> ods --> cube
any advice appreciated
