how do queries built on Multi-provider utilize aggregate; do they look for aggregates on individual Info-cubes?

You can run a multiprovider query in RSRT with "Select Aggregates" enabled in Execute+Debug, and it will show you which aggregates you'll need to build on each basic cube.
