Question:
Version 2.1c BW. with SP 20
recently basis did a client copy of our CRM system (test client). They also upgraded to SP 20 on BW since then when ever i do a load from CRM of transactional data i.e 0crm_complaints, the load takes around 4 hours to get 27500 records before failing. The error message i get is 'extraction message : missing messages :errors occured or missing messages'
Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Do you get any short dumps?
Are you loading in PSA? If not, try this option first... the monitoring there is more accurate.

What I would do is first replicate the datasource, reactivate transfer rules and try with a restricted load to see what happens.
Then if not successfull, try to figure out what the message actually means :
missing messages can be "BW did not receive all the expected messages from CRM", I mean communication messages saying "data extraction started, first packet send, and so on",
or it can be "the Extraction missed some messages", as in CRM you are extracting from objects called "messages", so perhaps the extractor is checking the sequence of messages and is missing some ?

The data does make it to the PSA but takes about 4 hours to get there which is a bit excessive for 27000 ish records.
There is a short dump message in CRM with the following line as what happend
'What happened?
The current program "SAPLCRM_BWA_MAP " has been terminated by another mode.

What can you do?
This is not a program error. Therefore, no countermeasures are
necessary. '

Check the system log (SM21)!!! There it should tell you which mode was used to stop the process. Then you need to find out why this happens (maybe something else is running on your system, e.g. backup ).

El Belgio is right : you extraction program has been cancelled either manually either by a shutdown of the system or something like this;
That's why it took so long to complete(abend) the job in BW : as CRM was not able to send a message saying "extraction finished" to BW, the job at BW side was still waiting for data...
So perhaps your records were already present after 10mins, then the job was waiting for the message that never came, and then went to shortdump.

Hi,
did you select the option of PSA?.If so,go to tranfer structure and click the preview button.Then you will be able to see the data which is going into PSA.If you are able to see the correct data ,so you will be able to bring that data till PSA.From PSA ,try to upload into data tagets manually.Then you can figure it out,at what moment the problem is occuring ie before PSA or between PSA and Data Target.Hope this may help you.
