Question:
I have set up some simple standard workflows [PReqn Release and PO Release] and have a couple of simple questions.
Several of the approvers are 'light' users [i.e., they only log on when there is something needeing their attention]. To handle their notification of needed rlease processing, we intend to send them an e-mail. Ohter more serious users will receive both an express notification and an e-mail.
Questions:
(1) can an e-mail be triggered by workflow without also making an entry in the user's SAP Inbox?
(2) the method currently used to trigger the e-mail is an automatic forwarding from the user's SAP Inbox. when we try to enter the user's external e-mail address we are blocked becasue this same address appears on the user's profile [msg = sneder and receiver adress the same]. we can temorarily remove the user profile e-mail address, setup the forwarding, and then re-enter the e-mail address on the user profile. while this accomplishes the necessary settiing tis eems a little tedious.
Is ther anyother way to send an e-mail to a user from workflow? If not is ther anyother way to set the forwarding address without mainatining the user profile data?
Thanks in advance for any assistance

I neglected to note that we are using 4.6B ... don't know if tht makes a difference but thought it should be noted
Answer:
You need to ask assistance from your Workflow/ABAPer to do it:
There is standard PR Release Workflow Template WS0000038 where you can copy and modify (Business Object Type = BUS2009).
SEND MAIL is one option you can insert in your WF. Possible receivers are SAP user and email addresses (or SMS). 46b is okay.

thank you your responses...
I think I may have resolved the questions in anohter manner..
(1) ... working with the standard (entry in the SAP inbox and an e-mail) will be adequate for our needs
(2) ... appears that I was working with local/user activated forwarding will prohibits forwarding to one's self .. using SO36 (administration of automatic forwarding) allows me to do what I need to forward messages via e-mail ... this is working fine
again .. thanks for the responses
