Question:
We have installed PI 2004_1_45B: patch 0000 on R3 DEV and R3 QAS. We
have also developed and transported from R3 DEV to R3 QAS. The
transports were to activate 2LIS_13_VDITM. We were unsuccessful at
installing PI 2004_1_45B: patch 0000 on R3 PRD. The PI on R3 PRD is PI
still at 2002_1_45B: patch 0004.
What are the risks associated with moving transports across an SAP R/3
Landscape with different PI release levels? Are we able to transport
and succesfully implement 2LIS_13_VDITM on R3 PRD with the differing
PIs?
We need to move to production by November 18 and do not have any free
time to try to do the PI install again.
Thanks
Answer:
Firstly, even patches or support packs are supposed to be transported to production, and not "installed".
With different PI levels across the landscape there is a potential for differences in the datasources (except for the generic ones).
You are silent on the PI_BASIS on the BW side. That also affects how your data transfer works between R/3 and BW.
Transports in themselves may not fail, but more important is what they transport, that could, in the end, affect your data updates.
