We have installed P.I 2003.1 starting from 2001.1.
After the installation for the cockpit the update method was switched to "queued delta"; but we have noticed a strange behaviour in 2_LIS_02_*
We expected to see the r/3 entries in the transaction LBWQ instead of SM13.
But it seems that the plugin update only sm13 (the inserted/modified documents still remains in sm13 and doesn't appear in lbwq)
So, the V3 job collects data from LBWQ, in RSA7 there's no data and we cannot extract anything to send in BW!!!!
have you noticed similar behaviour?
After searching in OSS and becoming totally crazy, we have found note 500736.
It says that the behaviour noticed could be corrected after importing support package or via abap correction...

If you already found the solution to your problem, what do you expect us to add to this ?!
I remember there was a note specifically about new delta possibilities, that said that in addition to the PI upgrade, some notes were to be installed. From the top of my head, I would say it is explained in 505700, but not too sure.

1) to descrive a critical problem and to share with the forum users a solution possible to this
2) have an opinion or other solutions.

The note 505700 is the core note.
It says you have to implement come notes to be able to select the update mode.
In our installation (from pi 2001.1 to 2003.1 )we have noticed this behaviour.
Pre installation :
- we executed V3 update to clear SM13 and performed a BW loading (to clear RSA7)
- 2list_02* : the plugin switched to queued delta: BW LOADS ALWAYS 0 RECORD (the data is present in SM13 and NOT in LBWQ)
- 2lis_03* : the plugin switched to non-serialized-delta: the loading into BW was OK (check the description of non serialized to see in witch cases is used)
It seems the plugin switched only if was necessary; the 03 loads correctly.
To switch 03 to queued delta we have to implement notes.
