Question:
Hi,
We are in the process of setting up Cubes for Materials Management and have a requirement to take SNAPSHOTS periodically.
There are two options to record changes in the data. First being the Transaction Date ( Date when the change was recorded ) and the second option is the Effective Date ( Date in the past or future ) when the change has to come into effect.
May I request you to share your opinion asto which was is preferable and which one you have adopted in your company. I am actually looking for kind of Best Practices references.
Thanks

Answer:
My gut reaction would be to choose Effective Date, since it probably reflects an intention, whereas the transaction date is somewhat arbitrary -- the reports would have been different if the data entry person hadn't taken a day off.
