Elimination of Internal Business Volume

Question: Hi Guys,

Is Elimination of Internal Business Volume important knowledge in your BW projects or is it just something that is to be done when SEM is involved?

Thanks,
Jess

Answer:
It is an important part of SEM, but even in BW, you wouldn't want to look at internal transactions, like plant to plant transfers or company to company transcations (when internal to the same organization), when you look at historical figures or when planning strategy.

At least that is what I understood from the BW & portals 2004 seminar held recently.

You can look up for more documentation on SDN (SAP developer Network).

Answer:
Hi SR,

You sure made an interesting point, the documentation in my hand didn't mention cross-plant or cross-company transfers.

So the problem is, if we're reporting on a client level, the stock transferred as well as the value of the stock transferred should appear for one plant or one company only. I believe this is different from Profit Center-Partner Profit Center concept in SEM since cross-plant/cross-company stock transfers would have the internal business volume (in this case stock and stock value) eliminated directly in the source system (R/3), therefore we don't have any business volume duplicated to eliminate in BW.

This is just what I think. Any inputs from somone familiar with loading cross-plant or cross-company stock transfer data into BW?
