Question:
Can anyone tell me why everytime i try to run a background job or start a process chain immediatly it prompts me for the logon & password to R/3. This has only started happening in the past week. Also the overnight jobs are failing as the ALEREMOTE user in R/3 is getting locked due to incorrect password.

Most likely the password of user ALEREMOTE in R/3 has been changed.
To be able to still communicate with R/3, you also have to change that password in the RFC connection in BW (sm59).

ALEREMOTE must have been configured as a dialog user. The login prompt appears only for dialog users. ALREMOTE should be a "System" user, and the login dialog will not pop up.
