Question:
I would like to use my (2.0B) infopackage groups in a process chain, in order to avoid having to put everey seperate infopackage in the chain.
Is this possible ? and if yes, how can I achieve this ?
Answer:
I have been on the Delta 3.0 course in the UK, and we were told it was possible to execute InfoPackage groups as part of the Process Chain.
So I have just had a look on our internal 3.0B to see if I can add an infopackage group to a process chain.... but I cannot see InfoPackage Group in the list of Process Types.
Has anyone actually done this before? And if so, how?
Answer:
After conversion to 3.0B we decided to define a process chain for each infopackage group. One meta process chain then is defined to trigger the chains individually. Thus the structure of the groups remaines, while using process chains.
Answer:
does this mean that all infopackage groups have to be converted manually to a process chain ????
Answer:
Jep, we did....
It resulted into a meta-chain, that triggers 7 process chains (former groups). Spend half a day on dragging and dropping.

Hello Tine,
I think the responses are a little misleading, and I don't blame them becuase they are all referring to 3.0B.
In 2.0B/2.1C you use what are known as 'Event chains'. You can set up the InfoPackage groups to run in sequence in event chains. If you can give me your email address, I'll send you the detailed steps required to set it up, since it HOLIDAY TIME after 2 more days!
THERE ARE NO PROCESS CHAINS IN RELEASE 2! ONLY EVENT CHAINS...

Answer:
well, as a matter of fact, we are on 3.0B, I was only hoping that I could use my "old" infopackage groups in the "new" process chains.
I think creating an infopackage group for let's say 25 MD infopackages is much faster than creating a process chain for thes same infopackages!
Thanks anyway, and have a nice holiday, by the way, you can find my email at the bottom of my posts.
Answer:
You apparently have more flexibility with 'process chains'. Event chains are a bit more rigid. If you have set up an 'event fail' process, then it follows only that path. With process chains you can use logical (AND OR XOR) controls.

Hello Kumar,
If you are on 3.0B, I can't help you there as I have no experience yet. I have only my delta 3.0B training notes.
However, I can help you with event chains(2.0B), if you can give me your e-mail address. You have signed on as a guest so I can't see an e-mail or profile.
Best regards.

Hello, Tine!
You can't use infopackage groups in process chains as I know (without special tricks), but you can easily convert infopackage group into process chain - just press "Process Chain Maint." button in maintain infopackage group dialog

When we use the feature it somehow generates process chains where steps are missing (e.g. no read from PSA - if InfoPackage is set to PSA and subsequent update) what leads to warning messages.
Has anyone also that kind of problems or is the conversion from InfoPackageGroups to Process Chains working good?
