Unable to delete Master Data

Question: Hello,

I have loaded Master data into a characteristic. But I found that the data I have loaded is not the appropriate data. (I have loaded Sales Representative master data for Material Chatacteristic).

I right clicked on the info object and selected the option 'Delete master data', but I get the message,

'not all master can be deleted.' and also the message,

"The system is unable to delete all of the specified master data, because some of it is still in use. (See log:Object RSDMD, sub-object MD_DEL )."

Can anyone please let me know how to solve this problem.

Thank you,

sapstdnt.

Answer:
Hello,

Please correct me if I am wrong. I found that the master data was linked to the transaction data through the dimension tables and since the dimension tables were using the master data content, I was unable to delete the entire master data.

Thank you.

Answer:
For you to do a complete dump of the Master Data all the referencing data in the InfoCubes must be dumped and possible the ODS but I can't remember for sure now. But definetly the cube data must be dumped.

Answer:
Does this step has to be done in all the sytems(i.e. QA/PRod) or you can do it in Dev system and you can transport it into another system without deleting the data.

Answer:
Reason you were getting this error was because of incorrect data in the development system.
I don’t think you need to transport or delete data of the Quality or Production system.
You should be fine in QA and Prod until and unless you have same erroneous data in the Source QA/Prod.
