suppressing zero column

Question: Hallo guys,

maybe, trivial problem:
one characteristic in a row (0MATERIAL), two key figures in columns (0AMOUNT, 0SALES). My general task is: Hide all null columns (all rows should still be visible). My current situation: All values in column 0AMOUNT are zeros, but they are still displayed although in Query Properties the checkbox Suppress zero column/rows (at Display tabstrip) is set. No restricted key figures, no calculated key figures, no conditions. What do I do wrong?

Thanks very much for any idea.

Scy,
I am a little bit surprised that you propose this link, as the subject seems to be still open, for you ?

Subject is open to me.But i think it will help blackfish. In his case It is straight forward as he has characterstic and key figures,I believe we can SUPRESS ZEROS based on that characterstic.

In my case i was using structures for ROW and COLUMN and i was doing drill down by Characteristic from FREE Characterstic and for that drill down i was trying to do SUPRESS ZERO and i assume it was not designed to work like that as it will not get that reference for that drill down characterstic as SUPRESS ZERO function is related to RESULT ARES.Please advise

I have to redesign the report with out structures by Hierarchy.I still have a different issues I'm doing some research on that which i'll disscuss it as new topic.

Thanks for your time,

Answer:
Thank you, scy, for your reply, but neither your answer neither proposed link doesn't solve my situation. As you described in your link, you need to hide some rows, but I need to hide some (zeros containing) columns - some similar problem I found at /forums/viewtopic.php?t=112904. As in documentation mentioned, hide column function should normally work just for columns with RESULT equal to 0, but THIS IS my situation and it DOESN'T work. Just to clarify my job, here is sample of query result:

0MATERIAL 0AMOUNT 0SALES
111111000 0 1
111111001 0 2
RESULTS 0 3

I need to hide column 0AMOUNT completely because it contains just 0's (as values and as result, of course). Therefore correct output should display only columns 0MATERIAL and 0SALES. As far as i know, conditions in query just help me to hide some rows and not columns, am I right?

BTW. can you describe, what do you mean by STRUCTURE in text " have two structures one for Rows with selection criteria with Cost element and other for Columns with formulae of RKF" (from proposed link)?

Thanks, blackfish

Answer:
If you are running this on the web you can go to the query properties and use the suppress zeros option and make sure you have this set for both rows and columns. Also, make sure you check the checkbox to Also Use Zero Suppression for Structure Elements in Structure Key Figures. I have done this and it works exactly as you have described. I am not sure if this is only available with certain release or support pack level. We are on BW 3.2 SP 13 FEP 11. This cannot be done on the query definition, but can be done in the query and then saved as a view. If you are using BEx Analyzer, I do not know of a way to do this except with VB.

Hope this helps,
