Question:
Hi all,
This is the first time for me doing BW transports. I am getting errors.
I have done the following steps.
Have the correct source system assignment; collected the objects; assigned a package and transported to QA.
however I am getting the error "datasource does not exist in source system QA of version A. This message is repeated for all datasources.
Am I missing something that is obvious here??? SAP help mentions that one has to copy datasource metadata first. How do I do that.
Your help is highly appreciated.
Answer:
if your transporting Transfer Rules (and looking at the error you are), you must make sure that the DataSource to which they are related is also available in the R" system connected to your QA. (more correctly : in the source sytem where BW will translate your transfer rules to)
(This last point may not be very clearly stated, but neither is my head at this time )
Answer:
thanks for the response...
since the datasources are standard business content, i would think that they are already available in the source system...
any other suggestions..
Answer:
Business Content DataSources are activated in the Development system, but still need to be transported to the "following" systems (they are not automatically available)
Answer:
very true...but thats exactly the problem is...i am transferring everything..before and afterwards..from the infocube to the datasource from dev to qa but it is still giving the error "datasource does not exist in source system QA of version A"
appreciate your help
Answer:
I don't know your scenario, but in most of the case the DataSource is on the R/3 side.
These DataSource will not be transported by transports on the BW-side, they have to be transported manually on R3-side.
I hope you get the picture now (if not : stop transporting stuff, because you don't have enough BW-knowledge!), cause i'm off to bed (11PM in Belgium).
Good luck
Answer:
Hi,
TFR is absolutely right. You also have to make sure that after you have transported your data sources on the R/3 side that you make a "Replicate Data Sources" on your BW QAS System BEFORE trying to import your BW transport.
Kind regards
