I want the reporting agent to email the report run to a distribution list.
If so can somebody please clarify how it can be done.

As far as I know you can only send exceptions by e-mail. You define the e-mail recipients as a follow-up action.
When the query containing the exceptions runs an e-mail is sent to those recipients if there is an exception.
The query is not distributed though. It is stored on the server so that it can be accessed there from BEx.

I didn't set it up but someone here is using Reporting Agent to send the results of a query to a spool file and then e-mail the spool.

one simple solution is create an exception that is always true (key figure value is between negative infinity and infinity - i.e. # and #) create a reporting agent follow-on function against that exception and define the view you want to send with the list of recipients.
