Question:
Hi - if anyone was implemented this inventory management cube, could you please let me know how long it took you.
I know this is a 'how long is a piece of string'' question, but i would just like some kind of ball park.
Thanks,
Answer:
hehe... totally depends
just set it up... took about 2-3 weeks, but then again we did some serious enhancements
today, I found out it's useless after all... we'll have to create a generic DataSource (which takes about 15 minutes - and no down time required, etc...)
cheers,
El Belgio
PS If you stick completely to BCT, it should take you no longer than a week I guess (test environment only + tests included)
Answer:
Consultancy agency generally states 10 mandays per area on average.
This is assuming everything that is needed (BW, PlugIn, Bex) is already there, and NO configuration is to be done.
And as EB said, most of the time it's not enough to fit your need, but if you use the iterative way of working proposed by SAP, you now have the time for the first iteration.

Answer:
thanks for the feedback, i shall tell the powers than be 1-2 weeks.
actually, the functional consultant has already configured LIS to provide all the data direct from r/3. however, the general thinking is that this type of report should be done bw side, and, hence, my question.
eb - could you tell us why the bc solution is a waste of time (before i embark on my own titanic like crossing)
thanks,
Answer:
In our case we need to report on WM level... you can get those fields (warehouse number, storage type and storage bin) in 2LIS_03_BF and 2LIS_03_UM. However, you don't get the actual WM movements. In other words, you get the IM movements with just part of the WM details behind it, but you lack the actual WM movements (which we need).
Additionally, they use dynamic bins here (i.e. for a material that's being sold, the PGI of the delivery puts this delivery as bin on the material document).

El Belgio
PS we were able to add the fields to 2LIS_03_BX as well ánd fill them correctly (was fairly easy, since there are no movements involved)
Answer:
Thanks for your answer El Belgio. We don't have the same requirement as yourself, so I recon we should be ok with using it.
Cheers,
