Comapring data in R/3 and BW

Question: How do I compare data in R/3 and the cube because queries run on the BW side give results which are different than the queries on the R/3 side

Thanks in advance.

In dutch there is a saying that goes something like : "There exist no stupid questions, only stupid answers" ...

Well, you just beat that saying

Hi,

well, actually the the proverb is correct in this case, too. Because the question is not stupid at all.

The problem in comparing both sides (i.e. R/3 and BW) is the delta mechanism which never really allows for identical data base on both sides, especially in situations where postings into closed periods are possible.

We compare date as follows: In financials and controlling we compare closed posting periods. In other areas where postings into already closed periods are possible (like in CO-PA) we use a generic delta for extraction (based on DB view) with delta on posting date. This allows for selections on both sides that provide a base for comparison.

Bye.
