Question:
I created a process chain on BW3.1c. I created a Load Data process (has an info package in it). I have the option "Only PSA" and "Update subsequently in Data Targets" checked for the 2 Load Data processes I have.
The quesion is sometimes, the process chain for the above info package settings, requires me to have a "Update from PSA" process defined for the above Load Data Process and sometimes it errors out that I do not need the "Update from PSA" processes.
My understanding was that if I have the "Only PSA" option checked I need the Update from PSA process. If I have the "Update Subsequently in ODS checked" I do not need the "Update from PSA" Process.
The behaviour I am seeing is very inconsistent. Is this an SAP Bug?
Your assistance in explaining this "X-Files" scenario will be greatly appreciated.

I have been trying to find solutions for this scenario, for I have an ODS that is updated by 3 infosources, and a cube that is to be updated by a fourth, while reading this ODS
What I do is remove the checkmark for this cube in the infopackage, and later on schedule it manually from the PSA. I asked this question at several forums (BW delta upgrade class, San Fransisco - Ron Silberstein and Mike Eckert),
ASUG-BITI at Denver (Amelia Lo) and BW & Portals 2004 at Orlando (all three, they got bugged out )
They have no answer. I tried to build a process chain on my own, but it does not work, always errors out. There is a solution using ABAP, but alas, I don't have any ABAP resource
If anybody comes up with an inspired answer, please help us. I am unable to take any long vacations because of the !@$$@^*& manual update from PSA

I created an export DS for this PSA. In the source systesm DS overview, it asks for InfoSource assignment. What infosource do I assign? It doesn't make sense to give the same IS that feeds the PSA in the first place. Do I create one? Normally from other InfoProviders, I don't remember assigning the same IS to the Export DS.

See my new topic. There is no way to avoid manual scheduling from PSA for my custom cube, the way I built the data flow 3 years ago....
