Question:
We have a scenario in our BEx reporting where 'select filter value' against certain characteristics on a MultiProvider takes a long time (i.e. 2 minutes to return a list of values to select from). Often the time at this stage is longer than running the report itself.
We have F4 help set to return values relevant to the current navigational state of the BEx report. We do not want to lose this functionality.
We have looked at SAP OSS notes which suggest creating secondary indexes on the X table of the InfoObject when selecting filter values on navigational attributes, however, the SQL traces we have done suggest that this will not help. We are also getting poor performance on InfoObjects which are on the cube i.e. not navigational attributes.
Has anyone got any suggestions about ways to improve the performance of returning a list of values to select from?

We have some similar issues here... it should be fixed with some Support Package (I think it's 13 for 3.0, but I'm not 100% sure).
The weirdest thing is that it doesn't happen all the time and only for certain InfoObjects. I did find one OSS note that suggested changing some setting in the InfoObject... it works... sometimes
I suggested to upgrade our Support Package level, but so far didn't get any feedback on that yet.
