Hi All,
Can someone please tell me when one should enhance the existing extractors and when one should create a new extractor using transaction code RSO2 - maintain generic datasources.
This relates to standard HR fields which are not included in business content as well as bespoke fields which have been created for the customer.
I have read the document on SAPNET to do with extending data for HR to include SSN number for an employee.

Its been discussed many times in this forum.
For customizing/extending standard BC(Business content) to suit Business / clients need go for ENHANCEMENTS.
If the Business content DATASOURCES doesnt match BUSINESS NEEDS go for GENERIC DATASOURCE.
In ur case guess u need to go for ENHANCEMENTS to add some fields as per ur needs to Business content extractor.

Answer:
creating a generic extractor always leaves the delta mechanism up to yourself... you either program it or work around via ODS objects
so my advice, use as much BCT as possible and if certain fields are not delivered, enhance the existing DataSources... that way the delta mechanism (if it exists) is completely covered by SAP
