No changes - new records in the cube - Interesting-challenge

Question: Hi All,
We do a daily upload to our cube with ODS layer in between. R/3 is our data source. Our books are closed on 8/19/03. After that there are no new records in R/3. As we forgot to remove the daily process chain from schedule, the process chain kicked off and ran the uploads. The ODS has full update and the records exactly matched as of the book close day. But, weird thing is, we are seeing that roughly about 5000 records added to the cube. The data reconciles between R/3 and BW. Only question is how did we get new records i nthe cube and how can we trace them.

When there are no changes in ODS, how can there be some new data coming to Cube. Also, the data ties between R/3 and BW. the only question is, we should have 0 reocrds added to the cube. Is there a way that we can know what are the new records?

Thanks in advance

Answer:
Helo.

1. If you don't compress data in your infocube you can find request IDs in the first column (or request number in last column) when you manage your data target. Go to LISTCUBE transaction with these IDs and find the relevant records (or you can do this filtering in Business Explorer, as well).
2. If you update using PSA, you can easily check the relevant datapackages in RSA1 -> Modeling -> PSA

Hope this helped,
