Emailing the Report..

Question: Hi,

Can anyone tell how do we send the report through Email automatically? if any steps please let me know.

Answer:
Hi APAR, It is possible, but it depends where you are running your program. If it's an ABAP program in R/3 or BW, you can click on System >> List >> Send. Enter the email address(es) and send the report.

However, the email will not send unless you have your BASIS people configure the email programs so that reports can be send from SAP. I'm not familliar with the setup other than part of the configuration happens with transaction SCOT.

Answer:
Hi Dylan,

Thanks a lot for your reply, infact I am trying to send BW query not ABAP report. Do you have any idea on how to send the BW report automatically i.e., as a background job?

Answer:
Hi APAR, I'm not really that familiar with BW just yet, so i can't help you at this point. Sorry, Dylan

Answer:
HI APAR,

use REPORTING AGENT as a tool to send reports .

If u need to send it to EXTERNAL mail ADDRESSES like yahoo etc... u need ur BASIS to configure it for SMTP.
For LOCAL SAP MAIL (express mail) no need of SMTP.

Thanks
Chetan..

Answer:
Hi Chetan,

Thanks a lot, through reporting agent mean with exception report? if it is not with the exception report then let me know what exactly you want to me try?

Here SMTP was configured already by the Basis people.

Thanks..

Answer:
This is a functionality that BW lacks in. You can schedule a report through the reporting agent as a background job for batch printing, but set the location as an external email address. This will send a text file without the BEx formatting to the email address. Another option is if you have Crytal reports configured to work with BW, you can use the scheduling options with Crystal Enterprise. Hope this helps.

Answer:
It seems that BW reporting is available for interactive access and querying, where every user has access to the BW production instance to do this, and there is less requirement to mail the spreadsheets/workbooks.

Would providing access to the email recipients with BW systems be easy and less work?

Answer:
Hi jlaruss,

Thanks a lot on your inputs, could you tell where do I can give the email address in batch printing? becoz I was browing the whole settings in the reporting agent for backgroung printing but I cannot see the option of "Location", If you don't mind could you let me know clearly?

Thanks,

Answer:
My mistake. This is only for exception reporting. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
