I am a workflow novice and I am trying to create my first workflow. The workflow should be started when a material master is changed, however it doesn't look as if SAP has delievered an event for a material master change. Is there a way to create this event or is there some other "workaround"? It seems strange that SAP has not supplied an event for this.

Just create a event called 'Change' by extending the Business Object Bus1001.

I've created a subtype for BUS1001 and created an event called change. I then went to SWEC and entered the event and object type into the table. I then took that event and made it the start event for the workflow. However, when I change a material and a material document is created, the workflow does not start.

I think you need to do assignment between change document object and the object type in Trx SWED. Just check , may help.
