Hello,
I have a serious error on an extraction :
A serious error has occurred in the update program
Fatal error in customer routine 0004
I've see on the forum a message which that is a problem of update rules but in my case, i'm sure that updates rules are correct (same in others BW and it works)
I've checked datas in my PSA and everything seems good.

get the update program (starts with GE followed by digits) from the short dump
do a syntax check on it via SE38
there's probably something you overlooked...

I've no short dump, only an error mesasge in the monitor.
My update rules are correct, i'm sure i have the same version on 25 others BW server and it works.

it's not because the routine works in one system that it automatically works in another system?!
anyway, you might just need to "regenerate" the update program (via activate in SE38)... maybe something went wrong during the original generation of the program?!

Some time ago, but I received this message myself. Changed something the definition of the update rules, saved the changes, activated, changed back to the former (and needed) version, saved again and activated.
Worked well. Seems that soemthin went wrong when activating the first time.

do u have any routines in update rules..?
please check the load log in following path
PSA / right click / start upload it will carry you for info package
choose jobs and check the log for job.
please provide some more information about log , where it can helpfull to understand .
