Question:
In BEX Query Designer, I am restricting on an attribute of a characteristic.
The pick list is so long, I cannot pick the desired value from the list.
Is there a way to directly type in the value I want to restrict on?
Answer:
It can be a pain in the ass, to wait for the values list, I know. I don't think it's possible to restrict without accessing this list however.
The pick list is so long, I cannot pick the desired value from the list.
What do you mean with this? Is the value you desire not in the list? If this is the problem, just go to the arrow-button on the left bottom corner of the restrict-screen. Via there you can access all the values. (actually BW shows default only the frist 100 values in the restrict-screen, just to sapeed up the access)
Answer:
The list is 30,000 records long.
So populating the list and scrolling is laborious.
Can this process be acomplished another way?
Answer:
Have not tried with Attribute, but for characteristic you could create a hierarchy of the object if you can extract the values from somewhere and restrict that in BEx on the hierarchy ........should be easier to modify also this way.......
Answer:
If you know the value of the characteristic, you can type it in the box and push it to the right with the arrow.
Else if you know only parts of the name, you click on the yellow arrow, use 'contains pattern', and in the next box type in *<whatever you know>* and choose 'all values' and click 'ok'. you'll get a shorter list, maybe 10,000 instead of 30,000 depending on the char. you're looking for.
