Question:
Hi fans,
I tried to install Business Contnent in the background and it resulted in a short dup. So, I thout that the job is cancelled. This is 15 days back. Today, just I am looking at the jobs status in SM37 and came to know that that the job is til running from the past 15 days. I tried to cancel it using Cancel Active JOb option and it did not work. Would you please help us to kill this job hard way without rebooting the server. Version is 3.0(B).
Thanks
- Gary
Answer:
Are you sure, it is still running ? Sometimes, the SM37 shows active jobs that don't run anymore (no jobs running with the SM50). In this case, you can do a "Check status" in the SM37 (menu Jobs) and the status will become "cancelled".
If it's still really running just try again to kill the job with the SM37, SM50 or SM66 functionnalities. Sometimes, it doesn't immediately worked.
If it's still running after that, just try to kill it under the OS...
If it'still running....
Answer:
In SM37, first try Job -> Check Status. If that does not work, THEN try the above steps.

Hi All,
Thanks for your inputs. I just want to add some more info on this. I forgot to mention that I did not find any process assigned for this active job in SM50 / SM66. Only in SM37 the job shows active and tried to cancel it repeatedly. As it is not occuoying any process, I can just forget about it. Or is this a serious issue to look at. Also there are some COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFORMANCEMONITOR jobs running from several days. What do these mean?
Thanks in advance.

Hello -Gary!
A few humble suggestions:
- Please register yourself
- Please let us all know whether you have a basis support person or not. You have earlier asked a few questions that were basis related and these were bieng batted about by our functional gurus, until some basis person answered it for you.
How many users do you support? Or are you the (only) user as well as administrator?
To answer your question, the COLLECTOR..... is kicked of by DDIC, that is, set up by your basis, just like all the update jobs are by ALEREMOTE, set up by you.

Additonally, nothing should be forgotten. It is not a proper condition and should be corrected. In the case of some jobs, it is erroneously reporting as being active, it could hinder the proper execution of jobs that come after it. Or there could be locks maintained preventing other jobs from running. You should most definately correct this condition.

Answer:
Hi Stephen,
Thanks again. Our client cannot afford a Test system and also cannot afford a basis consultant. So, it's my additional responsibility to take care of these issues.
Thanks for your help.
