We have 6 DIA and 2BGD processes. How far we can increase them. What is the general recommendation.

In part this is based upon the amount of memory you have on the system.
There is a # for each process you need at start-up, but you can configure operational modes to change the number of each throughout the day. (Like more BGD at night for data loading).
You can configure as many as you like, you have certain minimums - like there always has to be two processes for printers. The Basis group can give you specifics on figuring it out.
For our system I have about 5 BGD and 8 DIA process, and that switches around in the evening to accomidate data loading, and we have 4GB of RAM. But I am sure a basis person can give you a better method then just winging it. (I walked through configuring it for our system w/ our Basis Admin recently, but how quickly the specifics escape me .)
