Question:
Hi,
Here's my problem:
I deleted an update rule which prompted me for a transport request. Later on, this update rule was deleted from the transport request by mistake. I need to add this deleted update rule to a new request so that is deleted in our QA and Prod systems.
Here's what I've done so far:
1) Went to our production system to get the technical name of the update rule.
2) Added an object entry for this update rule.
3) Added this update rule to a new transport request.
What else do I need to do to ensure that this update rule is deleted in QA and Prod?
Thanks for your help.
Kristen
Answer:
You may have missed some "rules" in your new transport. If the update rules are just plain mappings, then you are probably OK.
I guess it is OK to delete the update rules and leave the orphan rule objects alone in Q and P systems.
If you do want to cleanly delete all the related objects, here is one way to identify all the related objects:
Have basis open the QA box for modifications.
Make a dummy change to the update rules. Create a new transport when prompted.
Identify all the objects and insert them in your development transport.
Close the QA box for modifications.
Alternatively, I would also look under transport connection in Q system to see if I can find a list of related objects.
Good luck.
