Reverse Sign for a hierarchy node

Question: I am creating an hierarchy for GL accounts.
For several nodes I will have credits (negative value) that I want to see as positive values. For that I am deffining "X" in the hierarchy node field +/- reverse sign. However, I still getting the original value in my reports and not the reverse value.

Please advice.

Dear all,

I found oss note 530213 that should solve this problem - using a Formula variable.

The problem is that the oss note says that "we recommend you supress the total rows" because the recommended solution is not applicable to the total rows.
Whats the point of not using the totals on a hierarchy? in more then 50% of the cases I can imagine, totals are required. This is not a good solution presented by SAP!!!! Is there other ones?

I am creating a P&L statement and I have planned Revenues and Costs that came from an excel spreadsheet.
I have loaded Planeed Costs as positive values - which makes sense because I am planning costs and not - costs.

However in my p&L I would need to have:
Actual Planned
Revenues 100 110
Costs (80) (95)
Gross Margin 20 15

Is there any way?

Hi

I've applied oss note 530213 and created a formula variable to get the sign to multiply by the key figure and then the values of the leaves are correct and applies the sign for those with the reverse sign flag but the totals at tree level are incorrect.

Answer:
in the properties of the KF, try setting the 'calculate result as' to "summation"...

Answer:
For the reverse sign in your hierarchy investigate the hierarchy in your source system and make the relevant chnages in there. If the reverse sign is maintained in BW everytime the hierarchy is extracted from your source system the nodes will need maintenance.

Its easy to extract the hierarchy and reduces the maintenance required in the queries.
