Question:
in the properties of a calculated key figure, I should be able to select an exception aggregation for a special characteristic for the calculated key figure;
this should be done through the use of a button called "enhance"
I am on BW30B SP8 and can't see it;
could somebody check if you are on a upper SP version ?

Answer:
I remember going through the same thing - the enhance button is not always there. If I recall, the calculated key figure can only contain the key figure itself, no filtering characteristics (or something like that). It seemed wierd to me at the time - I never got this functionality to work the way I wanted it to.
This was definitely on a SP of lower than 8.

Kevin
Answer:
Hi,
The 'enhance' function is only available for 'global calculated key figures' not for 'local'.

Answer:
Thanks to both;
first answer made me continue seaching,
second one made be finding it.
Great, thanks again

Answer:
back to it...
once I only have the possibility to say "Time of calculation" after or before aggregation
the other time I try I have the possibility to speak about "exception aggregation" and "reference characterisctic for"...
I even don't understand what could be the use of it
I tried to use it for average values, for instance, but nothing changed in the report ?

Hello CHC,
In the SAP help on the subject -
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw30b/helpdata/en/6f/56853c08c7aa11e10000000a11405a/content.htm
There is a fairly long and not too bad explanation of how to use it and why.
In there it explains the difference between a "simple" complexity (operands like X - Y) where the "time of aggregation" is useful. The idea here is (I think, but this is what I never got to work as expected) to tell the system to determine the percentages before it add the values together. For example, you have documents stored in your cube, and you want to determine the percentage of a delivery that occured by customer. If you are viewing the data at a customer level, the key figures would add the divide the total deliveries per customer by the total ordered per customer. However, you want to see for each delivery what the total percentage delivered was, you would want this calculation to occur for each document, not in total (I think). In the end, the performance can be impacted.
If you have a key figure that is "assignment" (meaning only one key figure and nothing else - as mentioned above loosely in my previous message) it is basically used to change the aggregation behaviour of a key figure. For example - you defined in BW a key figure of aggregation type Summation, but in your query, you would like it ot behave as a maximum value - this is how it would be used.
Type Complex do not allow you to do an enhancement.
Hope that helps you on your way.

Kevin
Answer:
Kevin, MANY thanks for the time you spent on it.
I will not have time to read the link before the weekend, but I will definitely do it then;
in the meantime I found a very good working sample to show during my training, and I understood more clearly the concept;
we can discuss it further later on if you want, I think I can put some light on the subject now
thanks again
