Can anyone please advise me on the following issue.
I'm currently working on a BW project. We have a BW machine that is used as a sandbox for now and therefore independent of the network and current landscape. I have to extract data from SAP R/3 wthout the use of a plug in to BW. I have to extract mainly CO data for now, manually out of R/3 and than upload it as an extrenal file in to BW. Can anyone please advise me what the best way is to deal with this and how to organise this in BW and R/3?

look at the structure of your CO-datasource and set up a csv file with R/3 data with a similar structure.
set up a flatfile connection in your BW (sourcesystem tab)
assign the flatfile system to your infosource
upload the flatfile data

Is there a quicker way to extract data from sap R/3 and how to find the R/3 tables corresponding with the fields.
I'm currently thinking of selecting data from SE16 and load this in CSV file but this will be a lengthy process, however I might be able to have one of our programmers to write a query to make this easier. I will need to provide him of the tables and fields as desired for BW. I have already mapped the R/3 fields and the fields in the info source but does anyone now how to find the corresponding R/3 tables?
