Financial statements without using hierarchies for account

Question: Hi all,

We are using 0PCA_C01 to create financial statements (P/L statement and Balance sheet). Upon preliminary analysis, we think we cannot use the hierarchies for the account number since the structure of the financial statement version in R/3 is different and also we need to build multiple versions of P/L statement (By Functional area) and the groupings for each version could be different.

Has anyone used 0PCA_C01 or 0FIGL_C01 to create financial statements without using hierarchies? One option we are thinking of is using a combination of complex calculated and restricted key figures to set up the P/L structure we need.

Any thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Answer:
Some options to consider:
    Maintain multiple hierarchies in R/3
    Maintain multiple hierarchies in BW
Add second G/L account InfoObject with navigable attributes corresponding to the different required groups. Simply derive it in your cube from G/L Account by assignment in the Update rules. Maintain the alternative groups externally (e.g. using Excel) and load as a flat file
