BEX - Copy a query into BWD

Question: Can a BEX query that was developed and resides in a desktop workbook be copied or imported somehow directly into BW Dev?

Rather than "re-creating" it in BWD?

The query targets BW production currently and needs to be brought into the BEX folders on BWD and transported to BWP.

.. Only an idea, but it would be worth looking at XML transfer of metadata in Transport Connection (RSA1). I haven't looked at this feature yet, but if there is a way to copy a query, apart from standard transport I think this would be it.
Please let us know if it works, I'm sure a lot of people would be interested.

.. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to try XML export and import; it seems that it should allow you to copy a query from production to development. Here's how it works:

In transport connection choose the XML Export function and select the object as for a normal transport, and collect all the related objects. Instead of the transport truck, you then click the Export as XML button. Eventually when the XML script has been created a window opens for you to enter the file location.

In the target system you then select XML Import and the file is unscrambled, eventually adding a couple of icons to the center of the window, showing the Status. Error messages are displayed for any SAP objects, but they are presumably already active (since no BC was activated in production). Now drag the XML icon to the right side of the window, and click 'Process XML Import'.

... and if all goes well (which it didn't for me -- it rarely does) it seems you would have transferred your query.

My job generated an error SYSTEM_IMODE_TOO_LARGE, which note 548845 explains is due to trying to address more than 2GB.

How about through RSRT?
