Firstly I would like to explain how check mode is determined on APO product Master from R/3
Check mode is determined on product master if there is a value in either STRATEGY GROUP or MRP GROUP on R/3 Material master.
During Sales Order transaction on R/3, it is derived on a combination of ITEM CATEGORY and MRP TYPE only on the SD transaction and not on the PRoduct Master
MY Question: However in some cases where the STRATEGY GROUP & MRP GROUP are blank on some R/3 materials, we see that on APO product Master there is a value on the CHECK MODE.
IS THERE ANY OTHER FIELDS ON R/3 which determine CHECK MODE in APO..
APO GUrus, Pls answer as we have our GOLIVE in 2 weeks and this is a major showstopper.

I already know all this stuff and didnt want to write in detail in my question.
I checked all the settings( MRP Group, Strategy Group) and still donot know how a value for check mode is being populated on APO product master
When you do the INITIAL CFM1 and CFM2 for material integration model, how is the check mode populated on APO Product master
Apart from MRP GRoup. STrategy group... Is there any other setting which populates check mode...
U said MATERIAL TYPE... Is it directly linked to a requirements type..
If so can u tell me the config path
I know there is a setting against PLANT and MATERIAL Type combination which has a requirements type. Is this the same???

Hi,
I think the determination in CIF is like this:
R3 material master strategy group ->
strategy group planning strategy ->
planning strategy requirement class -> APO check mode
You can always use the infamous EXIT_SAPLCMAT_001 to set your own logic.
