Question:
We are trying to create our forecasts via a background job based on the selection ID's created. Via transaction MC8E you can setup this background job and also select if you wane run it on 1, several or all selection ID's. The option all does not seem to work properly.
Does anybody have experience with this or knows a way how we can create our forecasts in the background based on all the selection ID's created in the planning book.
Tks
Answer:
Dear gjverd -- Please explain what you mean when you say the the option all "does not seem to work properly." Is the forecast not executing? Or are the results different than what you expect?
If the results are different from what you expect, consider that some selections may overlap, so some planning objects could be forecasted two or more times.

Answer:
When we selected the ALL option in transaction MC8E the system was creating forecasts for CVC it was not suppose to create them. The way we found out was because we only had 1 selection ID created but the background job created a forecast for many more combinations.
Any thoughts ?
Answer:
How do you know that the forecast is executing for more CVCs than the Selection calls for? Is it because you see the entries in the job log of the forecast job? Or are you basing this statement on the fact that you see forecast results in the planning table (data view)?
Remember that the forecast may disaggregate, depending on the disaggregation setting for your forecast key figure, so you could see forecast results (based on disaggregation) for other CVCs.
When you set up the mass processing job, right below where you set the Selection, you can click the button that says "Number of Planning Objects" to see how many CVCs the Selection will forecast. Any additional CVCs that show a forecast value are the result of disaggregation. (Of course, it may also be the result of a previous forecast, or a manual entry.)
Good luck.

Answer:
Yes we can see in the job log that a forecast is being created for CVC's that are not related to the selection ID we have setup. Also the selection ID we have setup works at the lowest level so disaggregation should not be an issue either. When I select the single option the the button number of planning objects says 1. When I select the all button I get something like 3774.
Tks for your help!
Answer:
Dear gjverd -- The only possible explanation I can think of is that there MUST be additional Selections created in the planning area.
