Answer:
And you have to applyto SAP for to get BC, so you are a bit stuffed unless you know someone...
Answer:
isn't XI the new BC?
Answer:
Apparently.
BC is a tried and tested product and isn't there a cost penalty with XI if you are communicating between SAP and Non-SAP systems.......
Answer:
BC is old boring technology, certainly won't be developed any further, and may even be out of support soon.
XI is fun and sexy and shiny and is part of Netweaver. And yes, there is a cost penalty for connecting it to non-SAP systems.

Does that apply to the toy/test versions too?
P.S: Is this an ABAP topic?
Answer:
Boriung but reliable, bit like a Volvo.
Used BC on the last project, mainly due to the cost implication of using XI, or maybe its that I know knack all about XI.
Maybe I should ask where to get information about XI from then all my fellow cynicists can tell me where to go. I could do it to myself too.
M@T where can I learn about XI. Send documentation, links, please help appreciated.
Answer:
If you can handle mapping tools, like mercator, then XI isn't a problem. Just requires you to learn the new terminology, and how to manage the application. Once you've done that it is a morceaux de gateau.
I've no idea where you can get information and documentation. I learned all I know from 2 colleagues who got certified, and from just general reading of e.g. SDN bulletins.
It's not in fact an area I'm interested in working in.
