Go to SAP.com and look for SCM. I don't know how basic you want the data to be, lots of white papers and more detailed info on the functional and technical sides. APO is functionally and technically quite different to R3. Most of what it does is provided to a much lesser degree in R3 but technically it's very different (a lot more like a souped up BW than R3 system). Lots of info in the SCM section of the service market place and on OSS, go to quicklinks and SCM again.
APO is best thought of as an extension to R3 hence the references to SCM which covers a combined R3 & APO planning solution not just the individual products.

Start with the FAQ notes in OSS for APO. Quite a lot of different topics. I'm not much of an ABAPer but if you've got access to an APO system I'd start with the BAPIs as most of the Livecache access (in SNP & PPDS especially) is controlled through them. They've got some OK documentation too. Not really much technical data freely published, try the SCM technical part of the service market place to get an understanding of how the different parts of the system hang together eg use of cubes in DP, differences in time series (DP) and orders (SNP & PPDS) Livecache. There's also the SAP APO administration guide, but that's much more geared towards Basis than ABAP.

Hello Venkat Yalla,
There is a book about that in SAP Press http://www.sap-press.com/H961.html. APO administration is not that different from R3 administration though.
