Use of Hierarchies in Snp

Question: Hello everybody,

We are currently creating a prototype which is a little more complex than expected.

The problem the ask us to solve is to visualise with quantities only the planned and confirmed objects with hierarchy visible.

Here is an example:
There is a planning family named PDP1. This family is in fact a planning product, used to limit the forecast for dependant finished products, like PF1A, PF1B, PF1C, and so on.

The customer would like to see week by week the initial forecast on PDP1, the sales orders on finished products, and the remaining forcast on PDP1.

He also would like to see the planned orders on PDP1 and the planned and confirmed orders on finished products.

And of course those data should be seen on the same screen.

The products PDP1 and PF1A, PF1B, PF1C,... are all created as master data Product, and can be seen with characteristic 9AMATNR. There is a hierarchy existing in APO.

My idea was to create a new characteristic filled up with the hierarchy data, like the name or the level. This new characteristic could be defined as a Navigation attribute for the MATNR. But I can not find how to create it and link it to MATNR, as I am not sure of the way to create and fill it up. Is there a specific documentation about it? Mainly because I do not know which table I should use as a data source.

Do you think this procedure is correct and easy to define, and if it is, where can I find the documentation?

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Alice

Answer:
Hi,

I don't know which version you are using. However, you may refer online documentation "Phase out control of end products in SNP" for APO 31 and "Product interchangeability" if you are using SCM 40.

This is not a complete solution for your problem, but it could help to resolve your problem.
