Using Variable Values in Columns in a Planning Layout

Question: We have a requirement to perform manual planning at a Product Level and need to allow the user to select a range of products and enter plan values for these selected products.

In the rows we would have for example key figures for:

Units
Unit Price
Sales Price
Manufacturing Costs
Marketing Costs

And, in the columns we would like to enter the values for all the Products selected by the User.

I have worked on 3 BPS implementations and have only seen the functionality to Hard Code the Products in to the columns.

My question is, is it possible to use a Variable to do this for the range of said Products?

We are using BW 3.1 Patch 10 and BPS 3.2 Patch 10.

Your help is appreciated.

Answer:
Hi,

Putting the Product characteristic in the row is Ok but as you mentionned you must defined the product one by one (one in each row).

You can't select a range withe a BPS variable since it aggregates the data. For instance, if you select products 1 to 5 in a range, the palnning will apply to the 5 products but you won't have details ofr each product.
If possible, you can do a globzl plznning znd then distribute it on each product.

Answer:
You can select a variable for product in the level and have to product being dynamic in the layout either in the lead column or data column.

Hope this helps, Mary

Answer:
In your layout,
0) put your product variable in the level
1) put your key figure in data columns
2) open up additional settings
3) select "all possible charactersitic combinations"
4) put product in Data column dynamic for...
5) In the data column tab following, clic on the dynamic box....

That is a step by step for creating layout with automatically expanded dynamic variable.
