SNP Optimizer & safety days of supply

Question: Hi

Does SNP optimizer consider safety days of supply time dependent & time independent (from product master) in generating planned orders? As per OSS it does not consider safety days (time independent & dependent) but our testing shows that time independent (product master) is considered by the Optimizer. For ex if FA is on 10/30/03 & safety days is 45 days optimizer generates a supply at the earliest possible date. With no safety days in the product master it generates the supply as close to the demand because we have storage cost at the location. This indicates that optimizer is considering safety days in the product master.

We would like to use safety days time dependent in the plng book. Has anybody tried it? We created a new KF for the purpose with 'D' as UoM & included in the std. macro but optimizer does not consider it

Thanks

Answer:
I am not sure if the optimizer will see days supply or not, but your first testing indicates that it will. Make sure your days supply calculuation is working with the snp heuritic first. Go to snp interactiv planning and plann your products. see where the supply is created. Make sure you have set your product master safety stock type to me MZ. Check that your macro is properly considering your variable days and displaying the correct amount in interactive planning.

When you are sure you can plan in interactive planning then try the optimzier.
