Question About Fixed Aggregates in DP

Question: I just started using aggregates, so this is new territory for me but I've GOT to think the following is a common problem.

Using a single aggregate, I'm aggregating about 30,000 characteristic combinations into just 18 (eighteen) planning objects. This helps to speed up the load into a Data view of a planning book. However, if I update a value in the data view and then click "Save", it 'times out' on me. I assume this is because the new entry is attempting to be disaggregated to all those 30,000 planning objects that make up the aggregate, and the system is choking.

Does anyone know of any way to get around this?

Thanks.

Answer:
Hello Mr. Healey.

While I do not have a solutiun to your problem, I hope you may be able to help with mine...

I also have an aggregate and it is corrupting my object structure in that I have duplicate characteristic combinations in the aggregate. I thought that I could use the program /SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_TOOL to delete the duplicate entries, but that does not apprear to work.

Any suggestions you can offer would be very helpful.

Answer:
agreates are tricky things. I to have trashed a pos by transporting an agreate into an active pos. There is an oss consulting note that give you all the dos and don'ts. You have a shot a recovering your pos by going into the supporting infocubes and recreating the indexes. Before you do this make sure you have a back up of your planning area. you may need to recover your data after recreating the pos.
