I am a SAP SD consultant and now, in my company we are thinking about the implementation of SAP CRM, of course, integrated with SAP r/3. Now my question would be, is there any public place which I can use as starting point, since I want to know a little bit more how this integration is carried out, and how this middleware works??

Just download the Setup and Load guide from the SAP service marketplace, this gives you a step-by-step guideline how the integration works.
