Question:
Hi,
For testing purposes, I want to save one box. Could we install Livecache and APO in the same machine?
Thks.
Answer:
There ist no reason not to install LC and APO on the same machine. The system is even prepared for this and will then route communications over shared memory areas instead of network connections. All our APO systems are on one machine, even two large productive APOs (48GB and 72GB).
You could also use your productive machine to host the LC of the test machine if you want to buy a smaller test machine.
Answer:
Thank U very much!
Answer:
Yes, our APO DEV/QAS systems always tend to have LC and APO on the same machine, with only PRD having the separate LC server.
Answer:
My next project requires that I install APO and LiveCACHE on the same host/server.
As a preparatory measure I have started installation pratice. I have successfully installed the APO 30A IDES SR3 and I can logon. As a second step I installed the LiveCACHE. The installation of LiveCACHE went well, in the sense there were no errors.
Now that I go to transaction LC10 and try to connect to LC to initialize it, I get the following error.
Error Log
server = kk2sys
user = super
logical command = dbmcli
parameter -d lca -n kk2sys version
error: connection failed to node kk2sys in database lca:
24941 ERR_NEEDLOGON: DBM Server Logon required.
External Program terminated with exit code 1
I know that ya'll are busy but an early reply to this will be really appreciated.
While you are at it. Can you also tell how to see if the LiveCACHE instance is up and running and also how to check the version of a LC

Answer:
Dear GURUs
I read other postings and realized I have missed to mention other important details.
My APO version is 30A IDES SR3 with ORACLE
I don't know how to check the version of the LiveCACHE but when I checked the installation log file for LC I found the entry 7.2.5 build 007-000-259-897
later on command prompt I got the following result
C:\>dbmcli -d lca -u control,control -n kk2sys <enter>
dbmcli on kk2sys : lca>db_state <enter>
OK
State
WARM
so I am assuming I am able to connect to the LiveCACHE and also that it is up and running.
While back in APO in transaction code DBCO while editing/creating/maintaining "Database connections" what user and password am I supposed to provide?
Please help
